Tether-Zero is a personal finance service operated by SpringThought, LLC, doing business as "Tether-Zero" ("SpringThought," "Tether-Zero," "we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and helping you understand how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information.

This Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our website, web application, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

  • Financial Connections: When you link a financial account, the account and transaction information made available through our bank-connection provider (see Third-Party Applications and Integrations).
  • Communications: Information you provide when you contact support, respond to surveys, or participate in promotions.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Log Information: IP address, browser type, referring/exit pages, pages viewed, and other usage and browsing behavior.
  • Location Information: General location derived from your IP address.
  • Usage Information: How you interact with the Service, including features used and the time, frequency, and duration of activities.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Authentication Providers: If you register or log in using a third-party service (such as Google), we receive information from that service as permitted by your settings.
  • Bank-Connection Provider: Account and transaction data you authorize us to access through Plaid.
  • Analytics Partners: Aggregated analytics data that helps us understand how users interact with our Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Send transactional text messages and account alerts you have requested.
  • Process transactions and send related information.

4. How We Share and Disclose Information

  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, bank connectivity, analytics, and customer support. They may use your information only to perform those services for us.

  • With Your Consent: When you give us explicit consent to share.

5. Mobile Messaging Compliance

Tether-Zero operates a mobile messaging program to send transactional text alerts to registered users.

  • Opt-In Consent: Mobile phone numbers collected for SMS consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your consent is specific to Tether-Zero and will not be sold, rented, or shared.
  • Information Sharing: No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
  • Opt-Out: You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to our toll-free number +1 (855) 529-5178. After you send the SMS message "STOP" to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed.

6. Third-Party Applications and Integrations

To provide certain features, Tether-Zero integrates with trusted third-party service providers. These providers receive only the information necessary to perform their services and are obligated to protect it.

6.1 Plaid

We use Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to connect your financial accounts and securely access account and transaction information from your financial institutions. When you link an account, you provide your credentials directly to Plaid; Tether-Zero does not receive or store your online banking login credentials. Plaid's collection and use of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal/. By connecting an account, you authorize us and Plaid to access and use this information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and Plaid's policy.

6.2 Unsplash

We use Unsplash to provide optional images, such as cover photos for savings goals. When images are served from Unsplash, your browser may send standard technical information (such as your IP address and device or browser type) to Unsplash. Unsplash's handling of this information is governed by the Unsplash Privacy Policy, available at https://unsplash.com/privacy.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide the Service and to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

When your personal information is no longer necessary for these purposes, we will securely delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time as described in this Policy.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption: Industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) to protect data in transit.
  • Access Controls: Access to personal information is limited to personnel who need it to perform their roles.

We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers, including the mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data of our users. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@tether-zero.com.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
